Kerala cafe Vasai - Good Food, Good Ambience & Unforgettable Taste

Located in a quiet corner on Saint Alphonsa Church Road, Kerala Cafe Vasai is a real treat for food lovers. The place runs full on festivals and special days so do make sure you reach before time to avoid waiting.

The ambience is soothing and dim lit, making it calm and comfortable. The whole interior is made up of wood and brass which gives it the authentic look it deserves.

Even before we ordered, the waiters brought us a bowl of fryms and a bowl of Rasam for every person on the table. It was such a welcoming thing that they had won us over.

We ordered Naadan Chicken Chilli Fry, Chicken Schezwan Fried Rice just out of curiosity to check how well can a South Indian cafe handle the Chinese cuisine, Mutton Biryani, Chicken Leg Fry, Kaipola, Jaggery Coconut Custard and Payasam.

The Rasam served complimentary really builds your appetite.
Starting with the Chicken Leg Fry, it was loaded with crispy onions and was enough to feed two people comfortably. It was a brown crispy piece of heaven. Moving on to the Naadan Chicken Chilli Fry, it was tender and perfectly spiced; the dish got over in 5 minutes flat, so you can guess how tasty it must have been.

Our Chicken Fried Rice was surprising so good that it blew our minds. The chicken was well cooked and had no odor like is the usual case in Chinese chicken dishes. It was such a great dish that it deserves revisiting for sure. Mutton Biryani was awesome, well balanced with correct amount of oil and spices. The Mutton again was tender and moist and flavorful, they really marinate their meat well.

The Kaipola was the only let down. We expected a banana rice sweet wrap but received something which was more of a banana honey pancake which was edible but not great. The Coconut Jaggery Custard for overly sweet, they need to dim down the sweetness a notch for the coconut flavor to come out beautifully well. Payasam was flawless as expected.
