Assal Marathi Review - Quick service, Delight for Vasai Vegetarians

When it comes to having authentic Maharashtrian food joints, Vasai has limited options. While there is Marathi Katta which is famous for its non-veg offerings, there was a vacuum for a purely vegetarian Maharashtrian place. Assal Marathi located in Vasai gaon a few minutes away from G.G College is a decent place if you are looking for simple maharashtrian specialties like Misal Paav and Thalipeeth.

We ordered a Thalipeeth, a Misal and a Sairat Misal mainly out of curiosity and a Batata Vada Sambar along with Solkadi and Masala Chai. To our amusement, the food was served quickly within minutes and piping hot. A bit low on the salt front, all the dishes we ordered were good quality wise though they need to improve on the taste front a bit.

Thankfully nothing was crazily spicy which is what usually happens whenever a place boasts of being a genuine maharashtrian joint. All in all the food was great, the Sairat Misal was spicier than the normal one but still not crazy on the spice, the thalipeeth went very well with the tea and the Batata Vada Sambar was just okay. They could improve on the Misal taste a bit and the place will be flocked like anything.
